Azula can't take it. It's been four weeks of this place, this hell. She just can't stay here any longer. It's obvious Zuko isn't coming, that no one was coming to get her out of this hell hole. To save her. So, really, does she have any choice at all?

The Royal Palace received a message requesting the presence of Firelady Mai to be the final test for Azula to be released, and Mai agrees to go.
Or
Azula did not join the search and only requested for the Asylum to be fixed. Had a proper chance to heal with actual therapy, and Now the palace has to deal with an Azula that is not the one they remember.

Summary
Nine years after the war ended, seven years after she escaped the asylum, five years after the search was called off, Azula is forced to go back to the Fire Nation.
She has no intention of reconnecting with the people who hurt and abandoned her, no intention of bowing to the hypocrisy of her brother and his friends, no intention of staying any longer than she has to in this nation she sacrificed everything for, only to be discarded. She wants nothing more than to go back to her simple life as a farmer.
There is, however, one reason why she will go back and play her part. A young girl who has no one else in the world, a young girl who understand what it is to be rejected by your only family. The only one who has looked at Azula and seen something worth loving.
She will do whatever she has to to ensure that the girl doesn't grow up like she did.
