Summary
so i basically threw canon out of the window for this but hey, i think that's what this site is for, right? (idk it's my first piece)
AU to 05x03 (Free to Be You and Me) of sorts, where Sam learns of Lucifer the night before the hunters enter his bar. With no Lindsey to tone down their violence, the hunters overtake Sam. Dean realizes how much of a little brother he actually still had to lose. (it's all okay in the end)

“De—eaa,” Sam forces out, his tongue burning at the unfamiliar word, a horrible fear setting deep within him like ice—Lucifer doesn’t like it when he speaks English. Lucifer doesn’t like it when he calls for Dean. He’s going to be mad he’s going to hurt him hurt him hurt him—
Sam just doesn’t want to hurt anymore.
A clamouring sound to his right shocks him out of his spiralling, and he recoils against a hard wall, opening his eyes—he didn’t realise he closed them, the Cage was always so dark, so thick and suffocating and cold—to see a face he’s dreamed of. One he thought he’d never see again.
“Dean,” he finally manages to whisper, tears of relief and just a bit of fear pricking at his too-clear eyes.
Dean says something back, the words garbled to Sam’s ears as if they’re coming from underwater, and then he’s coming closer, hands twitching by his sides and steps uncharacteristically hesitant.
The wall that Death erected to protect Sam’s mind is unsuccessful, leaving the hunter to navigate centuries’ worth of memories and suffering. And after nearly two centuries of speaking Enochian, Sam isn’t sure he can remember how to speak English.

Summary
"Sam, why did you try to complete the trials if you knew it would kill you?" Dean demanded. Somehow, he knew he wasn't going to like Sam's answer.
"Because my life means nothing. 'Am a 'bomination. Lucifer's vessel. Demon blooded," Sam's breath hitched, "freak." Sam whispered. "At least my death would mean something."
Dean could practically feel his heart breaking. "No, no, Sammy. Shh, you're not a freak." Dean quickly assured his brother. It was then that he realised with worry that Sam's arms were growing more and more bright, and his pallor was growing paler.
Sam's lazy smile returned briefly, though, really, it read more akin to a grimace. "'ts true."
"No, come on, Sammy. Why would you say that?" Dean begged, starting to grow more concerned for his brother's apparent weakening state than before.
"Because he couldn't cure me," Crowley responded, interrupting the brothers.

"Sam!" Sam heard Dean call, and before he could even think of trying to get his bearings, Dean was in Sam's bedroom. "Sammy, are you okay? Are you hur-" Dean stopped, a flicker of fear, anger, hatred and betrayal flashing across his face.
"Dean? Wha-" And then Sam saw it. In a particularly large shard of mirror, his reflection stared back at him. But it wasn't his. Looking back at him were his expression, hair, and clothes, but someone else's eyes. Instead of Sam's greenish kaleidoscopic eyes, yellow ones looked back at him.
"You addict bitch." Dean snarled. "You just couldn't help yourself, could you!"
"Wh-What?" Sam stammered out.

Summary
Death has exiled Dean to Ganymede, one of Jupiter's moons, so he can't harm anyone else with the Mark of Cain. But the team is close to finding the spell to free him from the MOC, Sam works towards saving his brother from that exile. However, the only person strong enough to retrieve Dean is Lucifer and his request as payment is more than Sam was expecting, perhaps more than he can offer without some magical assistance. One that ultimately leaves Sam doubting his own sense of truth about his feelings towards the archangel.

AKA a rewrite of the ending of s14/all of s15. Some things change, and change like crazy. Jack doesn't go anywhere near that fucking box though, and that's what's important.
