Summary
What if Jason actually stayed as competent as he was in Lost Days and Under the Hood, and actually reacted to his (ex-)dad slicing his neck open?
What if Bruce actually got taken to task (eventually) for being abusive?
What if people actually decided to talk to each other, and listened to what the other person was saying?But really, it's: what if Jason had a support system; and what if Jason had someone tell him that violence is not how you solve all societal problems.
(And what if I decided that the narrative would be on Jason's side as much as DC's narrative is on Batman's)
(Also, the series is only called Alley Business because I wrote that one first)Incomplete (and the total word count is half of what it says - the chronological order fic doubles it)

Ghost is a complicated man. He’s fully aware his current way of living is unusual and sometimes wonders what God he pissed off in a past life to be fucked over like this in his current one. He wants to think he does good, but he knows he isn’t a good man. He’s killed more than he’s saved- he’s cruel and brutal and vicious. And he’s surrounded by like-minded people- maybe that’s how he justifies it to himself.
He does the hard stuff, to try and protect others. Simple as that.
Romantically, he refused to be with anyone. Even though- someone always tried. Fucking Soap, always too… Much. Too happy, too fiery, too loving, and too gracious to him.
It fucks Ghost up too much to have someone treating him well- so he refuses to let Soap let closer, despite the Scotsman’s very obvious efforts.
Ghost was content to be a lonely, old bastard for as long as he had to live. He was a miserable person, deserving of a miserable life, is what he told himself. If Johnny McTavish couldn’t change his mind- then who the fuck would?At least that is what he told himself.

Ghost is a sinner, right? There’s no good endings for someone like him.
