The rational part of Caine (and logically it should be big, being an AI and all) kept trying to keep him in reality and saying that it's too good to be true. But there's the other part, the part that drove him to consume the second AI and create the Circus, the part that made him beg Zooble to go back to participating, the part that made him glitch out when he saw no votes in the favorite character awards, the part that made him make sure that every personalised chamber hurt… was giving him hope. Despite knowing there could be no way. Somehow, that makes it worse.

Pomni's words were playing though Caine's mind in an agonizing loop. In any other circumstances, he'd be able to erase that thought. Loan then to Bubble permanently, keep going on as intended.
But this was not his Bubble.
This was not his circus.
Yet, these were his humans.
They didn't remember him. They did not know he was an ai. They had just come back from the Candy Canyon Kingdom. Why was this happening?
"You just! Don't! LISTEN!"
He could win their favor. He could win their love, and affection. He had to.
He had nothing left but this second chance.
And, ideally, he'd do it WITHOUT making himself a horrible, cruel monster that no one loved in the process.
"You just! Don't! LISTEN!"
... Fine.
