Brian Thomas wakes up without any comfort that it was a dream. Scrapes at the spotless porcelain of his bathroom sink until his nails sting. Counts every single one of his teeth. With his tongue. With his fingers. In his reflection in the bathroom mirror. Recounts. Recounts.
None are missing. The taste of Iron still coats his mouth.He tells Alex about it. Because Alex is his oldest friend, and he trusts him, and hes known Brian long enough to know something like this isn't normal.

Summary
Every light beyond the end of the hallway is shut off. The best attempt at lowering their electric bill they can muster with how many bedside lights they keep on. Brian flicks the switch closest to him, blinks to adjust to the brightness, and almost has a heart attack where he stands.
There, in the furthest corner of the kitchen, halfway crammed under the bar, is his missing roommate. Jay stares up at him intently from behind his knees, curled up tight in a ball. Brian clutches his chest in an attempt to dissipate the shock.
"Jesus Jay, what are you doing?"
OR, Brian makes a new friend in an unlikely place. A familiar story.
