“I didn’t mean food,” Laudna says, and Imogen wants her to stop talking, Imogen no longer wants to listen to her lovely, rolling voice. “I meant blood.”

Imogen Temult spent time enough wading through dreams that could have passed as reality. She wasn't quite lucid, not quite all the way gone, but the dreams--and the nightmares--were constants.
Still, her mind had gone to great trouble to conjure the latest apparition. Tall, pale, dressed in layers of black fabric that swished with the slightest movement... Imogen could never have been prepared for her.
