He wandered. Every day, he wandered. It kept him sane—as sane as any man could be, alone in these mountains. He was unburdened, carrying a few scraps of paper, a nub of charcoal, and his staff.
Through the meadows, wildflowers dancing in the wind. Through the cliffs, striking rocks off the edge with the end of his staff. Barely dancing into the cave, holding up a lantern as though it might be able to pierce the shadows, never quite so brave as to enter.
It was the best he could do. The stories didn’t change anything, and they probably never would.

Summary
You are eight when you meet the strange, tiny fish twins in a secluded cave, saving them from suffocation, starvation, and then seagulls. Eventually, you release them back to the ocean and you never expect to hear from them again.
Then you see them when you are 17, on a school field trip to a beachside carnival-slash-aquarium, and they are about your size, and they are unhappy. The tank they shared was clearly not large enough, and it reminds you of the time you first found them. You leave the carnival with a sick feeling in your stomach.
And when you graduate university with a marine biology degree, the only place you apply to work is the Fazbear Aquarium, which has doubled in size since your last visit. They accept you as their employee solely because of your father's work in marine life research, and for once you thank your absent father for being a workaholic with a good reputation.
Then you see them. And they are much larger than you could have expected. Suddenly your plan to execute a fish heist becomes a little more difficult.
