Summary
Rex Lapis' golden gaze lowers to the ground. For a moment, it feels as though every other living thing holds its breath.
"Rex Lapis! My name is Childe, and while I am kind of a bad guy, I am honoured to meet you." He puts his fist to his palm in a traditional Liyuen greeting, exactly as Zhongli had once showed him, and smiles with too much teeth. "Will you heed my request?"
Rex Lapis does not answer, but he does not immediately smite Childe where he stands either, so he takes it as a cue to continue.
"May I please have one of your scales?"
Childe can’t bear to see his good friend Zhongli upset over his broken jewellery box. He decides to make Zhongli a new one, out of nice-smelling wood, definitely platonic love, and a dragon scale from Rex Lapis himself.

“Tartaglia, you are being reassigned.”
Excitement pumps through Childe’s veins as the words are uttered, his casual smile widening into an ecstatic grin. For it to be the Tsaritsa passing this mission along to him directly rather than Pierro– it must be high-stakes.
“You will be going to Liyue,” she says, “to enter a courtship with Rex Lapis.”
What?
Childe swallows harshly, his tongue feeling thick in his mouth.
“Your Majesty, I believe there may be a misunderstanding.”
More like an impossibly large oversight to this whole plan. “Rex Lapis and I… we are not on the best of terms, at the moment.” That’s putting it lightly, though saying as much to his Queen feels immensely childish, and shame surely paints his face a burning red hue. “I do not think he would be pleased to receive me.”
Her expression does not change, and she only answers him with patience. “On the contrary, he has specifically requested you.”

Summary
The plan was simple: go to Liyue, retrieve the Gnosis, maybe blow up a harbor or two, and be home in time for tea. Easy. Childe’s done worse with less.
Then came Zhongli—quiet, infuriatingly polite, and far too intriguing for someone who kept “forgetting” his wallet. What was supposed to be just another mission turned into dinners, silences, and… whatever that was.
Things got complicated.
Feelings happened.
And then the god revealed himself.Now back in Snezhnaya with no Gnosis, a bruised ego, and one very inconvenient ache he refuses to name, Childe’s doing his best to move on.
But when the Tsaritsa is found supposedly murdered under mysterious circumstances, everything shifts. Questions pile up, enemies close in, and Childe is sent right back into the storm—on a path that may lead him straight to the last person he wants to see… and the one he still can’t stop thinking about.
Because when gods play with pawns, someone always ends up broken.
