Edogawa Ranpo takes this case on, at first as a distraction from the feelings he has for his closest friend and rival Edgar Allan Poe, not realising that the Objekt of this desire and the Murderer seem to have a deeper connection than he would have ever suspected.

Summary
"So!" Parrot says, excitedly. He drops the materials he's gathered next to Wifies on the couch, while he sits on the floor in front of Wifies. "I'll be patching you up today!"
Wifies, as per usual, doesn't respond, so Parrot reaches out and tilts Wifies' head to the side. He tries to recreate his best friend's favorite motion, but his head rolls limply, unable to hold itself up.
"It's fine," Parrot smiles gently, fixing Wifies' head into the previous position. "You're going to be as good as new in no time."
or, while on the run, Parrot goes back to the jungle he used to hide in from Clown. But in the rubble of his old house, he finds a broken clone of his long-dead best friend and decides to bend the rules of the world to fix it - fix him.

When he opened his eyes, Verity was leaning over him, lowering himself until their eyes were nearly level, though Mob still had to look up to meet his gaze. There was a red glint dancing behind the obsidian black of his eyes, predatory and hungry.
"Why are you trying to leave me?" Verity asked, his voice low, curious.
Mob kept his eyes fixed on his, his breathing short and shallow. He tried to stay calm.
"Verity, let me go."
"You said you came back for me," Verity continued as if he hadn't said anything. "Why are you trying to leave me again?"
Mob tried to wrench his wrist free, but the grip only dug deeper into his flesh, in a way Mob knew would leave bruises. His eyes narrowed at the sharp flare of pain.
"Verity... you're hurting me."

Wifies has a moment to wonder what the hell he means, a second of clarity to think, what is he doing, a shock of reason to his system, and then Hummer lets go of his right hand. He pulls away, but Hummer is faster, reaching for him and clamping fingers onto his face, almost painfully, rough gloves digging into the soft skin of his cheeks.
