It was a dream. It was a dream, and it was so beautiful.
Satoru threaded his fingers through Suguru's dark hair and pulled it free from his bun. Reveling in the soft locks that tangled around his hand. Suguru let out a low sound when Satoru bit down on his lip, and they stumbled further into the ocean. Further from land and civilization and all the morals that made them, them.
The ocean was trying to swallow them. Satoru lapped at the blood seeping from Suguru’s lips, and Suguru’s hands continued to trace up and down his back. Just as desperate and greedy as Satoru felt.
“Please,” Satoru rasped against his mouth, and it was a plea that no one else alive would ever hear. It would stay trapped here where Satoru would mourn over it for years and years to come. It would rot with him, like everything else that mattered.

Yuuji dared to wrap his pinky around Megumi’s, stifling a smile when he sent him a withering look but didn’t unlink them. Instead, he squeezed back, and it was like they were making their own heartbeat. Pulses thumping together.
The world didn’t know how badly he wanted this. Gojo, for all of his talk and knowing looks, didn’t know about the rotten, pulpy mess of his heart. Still beating, despite having been ripped out by Sukuna. Still fighting, despite what his future held.
Yuuji just had to get stronger. To protect everything he had right now, to protect everything he wanted in the future, he had to get stronger.

Winners might write history, but it’s the losers who make that history possible. Their footprints could be found everywhere if you looked hard enough. If you cared enough to look.
But the thing about losing this kind of war meant that there was no one left to look. The Corruption didn’t win; it took everything, mercilessly. There were, quite literally, no winners. Just the dead and the soon-to-be-dead.
Tim was the last to remember, and then after him, there would be no one.
There would be nothing.

Once, Tim had dreamt of silent death. Once, Tim had yearned for unearned peace.
Tim didn’t speak, and still the voice sighed. I see. I will choose a good world for you. You will fall in love with it. It will break your heart. It spoke with certainty that rang with great weight. Do you still want it?
Tim thought of family. Of loneliness. Of all that lay in between.
Forcibly, painfully, Tim parted his lips. Breath rattled free, and he croaked out, “Yes.”
Oh, child, it mourned, and then a hand pressed against his chest and a scream ripped free from his body. Like the howling of a beast.

Tim's family, planet, and universe are destroyed in a matter of years. He dies, too, in the end, but is given a second chance at existence in a different world. A world where Damian is the first Robin and everything is backwards.
He takes it.
