Along with his long term friend and colleague Dr Katerina Loss, they work on a huge ship in space where the wounded are sent in a constant flow from the conflict below. The soldiers that had multiple parts replaced by cybernetic ones were classed as cyborg and their 'humanity' turned off with a chip. all cyborgs followed the same protocols until a late night intake of wounded brought an exception that has Magnus Bane questioning not only his professional abilities but long buried true feelings. -

He was dressed in a grimy prison jumpsuit, hair shaved and skin tanned and bruised beyond recognition. He looked emaciated, almost skeletal, with thin skin keeping his tattered form together.
