“Good evening sir,” he started, “sorry to bother you at this hour but you see, I'm in need of some assistance. My friends and I were hiking and then that stupid Valdo thought he heard a wolf and he pushed me and ran. I fell, hurt my ankle. Then it started to rain and when I managed to get out of that hole, I couldn’t find the path and my friends were gone. I walked, or more like hopped around until I stumbled upon this cabin. Saw the light. It’s so cold… please don’t stab me! I'm not ill intended. I just need some help… please?”

Yennefer watched in horror as Jaskier's eyes rolled into his head and he fell.
“Jaskier!” Geralt yelled, already moving.
The sorceress felt her chaos reacting, even before her brain did. She enveloped the man's body with her magic. Surrounded by a violet glow, the bard's motionless body was now floating in mid air.
Focused on not loosing her grip on him, she had completely forgotten the floating stones, which clattered on the ground as they fell all together. The Witchers were thankfully all fast enough to avoid them.
Yen slowly lowered Jaskier into Geralt's arms, still outstretched trying to catch him.
The white haired Witcher easily caught him, holding him against his chest.
“Jaskier!” He shook him slightly, without getting a response.
The sorceress was on Geralt's side in an instant, grabbing the bard’s head with her hands. She had barely touched him when the younger man's appearance started to change.
Dark purple circles appeared under Jaskier's eyes, his face turned scrawny. His right hand, which laid limb, was red and there were blisters and blood. His body suddenly was much more lighter in the Witcher's arms. -

Jaskier's carefully crafted life as a bard turned spy is uprooted in an instant when his family finally decides that he is no longer disowned now that they have a use for him. When back in Lettenhove, he finds out that his father has put out a warrant for him. He has finally found a use for his bastard son. As it turns out that use is sending him as part of a tribute to the Warlord of the North. All of them under the impression he won't walk out of that place alive, Jaskier is determined to survive in anyway he can.
The first of a series I'm starting. Your classic Tribute Jaskier becomes the warlord's husband and dearly loved bard. With some bumps along the way :) Very slow burn...
