Summary
Vi is a new hire in Caitlyn's company. They have a rough start, Vi loves poking at Caitlyn's cold exterior. Slow burn where both are unsure and no one want to admit feelings until there is a catastrophic event that pushes Caitlyn over the edge.
Caitlyn stiffened slightly. “What?—What makes you think I was looking?”
Vi leaned in just enough to make it feel conspiratorial. “Oh, I don’t know. You just strike me as curious.”
Caitlyn rolled her eyes. “I tried. You weren’t exactly easy to find.”
Vi chuckled. “That’s on purpose. Gotta keep the air of mystery, y’know?”
“You’re ridiculous.”
Vi continued, “So you admit it?”
Caitlyn’s eyes widened, clearly annoyed. “Admit what?”
“That you stalked me.”
Caitlyn let out a sigh, lifting her wine glass again. “Are you daft? I did not. I just wanted to see who I was dealing with before the interview.”
Vi’s smile widened. “You’re very defensive for someone who didn’t stalk me.”
Caitlyn pinched the bridge of her nose, frustrated.
Vi tilted her head, clearly enjoying this. “Relax, cupcake. I’m flattered.”

Summary
It was a room. A very precarious state of what should be a room. Or maybe cell was a better description. There was a sink and a toilet on one side. A metal bed attached to the wall in front of her. Everything seemed very old, as if it had been stored and forgotten there for years.
Caitlyn saw she was not alone. Under the bed, occupying the smallest possible space, there was a person.
A child.
"What's your name? I'm Vi," she continued when there was no response. If Caitlyn couldn't see the girl's chest rising and falling, she'd doubt whether she was even alive. "This is Caitlyn. Who are you?"
The minutes passed. Caitlyn was already thinking of her fifth contingency plan when the child moved. An almost imperceptible movement. A slight lift of her neck, allowing for a better view of her intruders. "Lavender," her voice was thin, yet hoarse, as if it hadn't been exercised in a while.
"Nice to meet you, Lavender."
