    Summary

He spends another twenty minutes staring at his phone before he musters up the courage to call Darla.

It rings for several minutes. For a moment Bernard thinks he’s gonna get kicked to voicemail, which is exactly the kind of anticlimactic bullshit the universe would drop on him for being anxious about this.

The phone picks up, a quiet out-of-breath noise in his ear.

“Hey, dumbass,” Darla’s voice says. “You okay? Tim thinks you’ve been kidnapped.”

It’s her voice. It’s young and smooth and tripping over the corners of words in the ways a gangly teenager does, and how did she ever sound this young?

    “Bernard?” Darla says, worried.

    Bernard hangs up.

Post-Cult-of-Dionysus Bernard gets stuck in a time loop of the day Darla Aquista dies, which sucks just, royal balls.

“Gotcha.” CK pulls out a plastic baggie from his mountain of wrappers. He rips it open to reveal a Robin toy. Jason groans.

“Nice. How many of these are there? Maybe I should collect them.” He grabs a little folded paper and smooths it out on the table. “Glow-in-the-dark Nightwing? Awesome.”

    It’s like babysitting a toddler.

    Summary

Tim Drake leads a...mostly normal life, helping people get the best insurance they can afford. Soon though, he finds himself embroiled in a plot that involves Robin trying to take him down, and Batgirl possibly helping. Add to the mix Red Hood using him for information, and a strange young man walking into his office under false pretenses, Tim finds that his mostly normal life is about to completely change.

Tim knew there were worse jobs in Gotham than insurance agent, but he’s hard pressed to think of another at the moment. As he shoots off an email to a client about looking into their claim asap, he hears the glass door to the small insurance office open and watches Stephanie Brown, the goddamn Batgirl, walk into the agency and catch his eye. He puts 'masked vigilante' at the top of the list.
