Summary
“He smiles too much,” Lan Wangji says, frowning at the pixelated headshot of the instructor. Flippancy is not necessarily forbidden, but it is strongly discouraged, especially when one is a thousand feet above ground instructing the light of someone else’s life.
Lan Sizhui is going for his Sword Flight Licence. Lan Wangji is panicked.

Summary
The guy’s car is that sort of vehicle that can fit few people but a lot of life garbage if you’re running away. He’s been shuttling between his house and the car for so long Wei Ying’s tea has gone cold and irrelevant. Everything seems insignificant now that Wei Ying has a human neighbour. And the guy just absolutely had to buy the house right next to Wei Ying's.

Summary
Lan Zhan is jostled slightly and he turns in his seat to see a harried-looking man squeezing in next to him. There isn't an empty seat there, and the bar is quite crowded. "Sorry," the man says, sounding out of breath. "I know I'm all up in your business, I'll move, I promise, I just—" He blows his breath out. "I'm going to lose this seat next to you, that dude over there has been eyeing it, and it's mine as soon as this guy leaves."

Look, Wei Ying just wants to get to his sister's condo building early enough to beat that asshole in the white SUV to the only guest parking spot.
Too bad it turns out the guy is super, super hot and it raises the stakes a bit.
OR: the elevator au where Wei Ying keeps awkwardly talking; Lan Zhan is quietly into that; and at some point there's a dildo in a place it shouldn't be (non-sexually)

Summary
The old woman looks at Lan Zhan. "What's his name?"
Lan Zhan looks down at the man's pale, slack face, and presses his own hand against the cut, trying to staunch the blood flow with his glove. "Wei Ying," he says without thinking about it.
The man stirs slightly in his arms, his eyes blinking open for a moment. "Oh," he says faintly. "It's you."
Lan Zhan stares down at him, the stranger in his arms, whose name is Wei Ying. Which is something Lan Zhan knows. How does he know that? How does—he can't—this isn't—
"It's okay," Wei Ying says, reaching up to pat vaguely at Lan Zhan's face. "It's all—" His eyes slip closed again and he's limp in Lan Zhan's arms.

Summary
“Well—maybe you’ll get lucky, and Lan Wangji won’t like you at all. Then he might send you home and keep up his part of the deal anyway!”
Nie Huaisang meant it as a joke, but Wei Ying sees potential.
After all: if there’s one thing he’s learned in the months since the engagement, it’s that he is utterly unsuitable for a place like the Cloud Recesses.
All he has to do is act like it.
(...After a century of war, the great sects are looking to make peace by the most common means: marriage. When Wei Wuxian is promised to the Lan Clan, it is thought to be a grave insult.

Summary
Lan Zhan knows that face. It's Wei Ying.
His head is thrown back, eyes closed, baring a long line of throat interrupted only by his adam's apple. He's pulling the mic stand towards him as he belts out a high note, long and piercing, the crowd screaming along with him. He cuts it off and snaps his eyes open – the camera catches it head on and for a single breath, it's almost as if he's looking straight at Lan Zhan.

Summary
There is a strange air of mystery around Mo Xuanyu, and no wonder: nobody knows where Mo Xuanyu comes from. All they know is that he is purportedly a chess genius, a rival to rival all rivals, but Lan Zhan knows there has only ever been one man who could truly rival him. Not even a man—a boy. Lan Zhan himself had been a boy at the time, barely seventeen. Wei Ying had been a bright spark, a flash of light in the dark. Their rivalry was the talk of the chess world. They would sit across from one another at tournaments, Wei Ying's cocky grin insufferable under the bright lights of the ballroom, his voice mocking: "What, Lan-er-gege, can't think of a countermove?"
It's against the rules to talk. That had never stopped Wei Ying.

Burial Mounds is just a poetic name, it doesn't change what this place is - a landfill. A pile of trash so big it takes up the better part of what used to be called Yiling. It's a dangerous place to live due to all the toxic waste. For the same reason, it’s the only safe place for Wei Wuxian and the Wens. Maybe this place is exactly where they belong - in society’s eyes, they are toxic refuse hoping to be salvaged. Wei Ying isn't really hoping for redemption, he did a lot of mistakes in the past - mistakes that had horrible consequences that are impossible to fix.
When he finds a seriously damaged android, it gives him a new purpose. Maybe if he can fix him, he will feel less useless and damaged himself.Series
