Clorinde, a seasoned agent in the secret Marechaussee Phantom agency, finds herself reassigned to a new handler, the enigmatic Wriothesley. Summary
“My life would never be the same for you are heaven’s grief that brought hell’s rains. You have left me forever undone that I believe that you would be my downfall.” he says while reaching for her wrist in an attempt to stop his wife from leaving.
“What are we exactly? Tell me, because I am not so sure anymore.” she turned to him with tears forming in her eyes. “Why does it feel so real?”
“Because it is real. What we are both feeling is real.”

"Miss Ningguang, what are you scheming?"
"That depends who's asking." she answered, meeting his gaze. "How did you know that I was the one in the disguise?"
"I didn't recognize you in your disguise, but one thing gave a subtle hint. You wore the same perfume. How can I simply forget the scent of glaze lilies on our first meeting?"
"Your highness, you have a way with words, but that alone won't be enough to sway me."

Summary
"The Gods are cruel for blessing us with this cryptic puzzle, but here we are doing what it takes to understand it. Maybe they intend to teach us what fear is, so that we wouldn’t senselessly run into danger, but day by day our comrades fall into their blades.”
"We've been exterminating demons beyond count, had the Gods thought of it as sins from the very start which is why we suffer? We're not caged canaries, playthings of the Gods. We live for ourselves and we strive to keep our beliefs to stay alive, but when will it last?"

Summary
When the Duchess of Kalevala, Satine Kryze, survives an assassination attempt in Mandalore, the most dire solution for her safety must be considered and she is entrusted in the hands of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his disgruntled padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Both eighteen, both annoyed by one another, and both contending with their insecurities and vulnerabilities, they must learn how to tolerate one another (for Qui-Gon's sake) and eventually, how to stop themselves from falling in love.
A companion piece to "Asphodel," this is my take on the Obi-Wan/Satine year on the run.
