Summary
In a world where soulmates are represented by animal familiars, Clark wonders if his soulmate is a cat. A literal domesticated feline animal that one could get from the pet store and not just a person with some cat-like personality traits. There’s no other explanation as to why his familiar acts like every single asshole cat meme to ever exist.
On the off chance his soulmate is a real human being, well… He would never tell his mother this, she raised him too well, but sometimes Clark wishes his soulmate’s familiar was making him feel just as miserable.

Bruce peels his eyes away from the monitors to look down at the menace on his lap and barely contains a look of disgust. Big blue eyes stare up at him as he rests his chin on Bruce’s thigh, and as their eyes meet, the pathetic, whimpering little whines are replaced by excited huffs, the clickity clack of dancing paws on concrete, and the rhythmic thumping of his tail hitting the leg of the table.

After a chance encounter with a rather unusual child reverts Viktor back to his Herald form, Jayce and Viktor find themselves in a race against time to find the child before Viktor’s condition gets worse. Little do they know they’re not the only ones searching for the child.
OR
Jayce and Viktor eventually adopt four children to live with them in their cottage. But only after many, many, many shenanigans.

Summary
Def: Two things that are closely related and are essentially different aspects of the same thing. They may seem different, but they are inseparable and cannot exist without each other.
Another post-canon fic that ends with Jayce and Viktor happily married in a cottage in the woods.
But the road getting there wasn't easy. After all, how do you move forward when you wake up in another timeline with your naked partner laying beside you in a field? And discover he's dying of lung disease? How do you deal with all the mess and trauma you just endured in your previous timeline? How you do combat the horror that haunts your mind now?
First thing would be to probably find a hospital.

Clark choked on his own spit so hard he nearly doubled over, coughing.
It's been 5 years since both Superman and Batman began their separate crusades. Both curious but cautious.
Clark remains in Metropolis, respecting the Dark Knight's strict rule to keep metas out of Gotham. Meanwhile, Bruce is consumed with finding a balance between Batman and Bruce Wayne, determine to not repeat mistakes of the past. But it's hard to do that when he is too stubborn to accept help. Fortunately, for him Clark is just as stubborn.
Their paths cross when Clark is sent to cover a gala in Gotham, stepping into the city he's barred from. What begins as a professional obligation turns into an unforgettable collision with Gotham's once reclusive billionaire.
Or Clark and Bruce fall for each other slowly yet quickly.
