Naegami week 2024, Despair Disease.
“Here, take this.” Makoto hands him a small cup of tea he retrieved from the floor. “I saw you weren’t able to drink any earlier.”
He looks down at the cup, it’s dingy and chipped. Gross, not the kind of cup a man like him should use. Despite this line of thought, he raises it to his lips and drinks. On the saucer are two pain relievers, delicately placed to the side. It goes down smooth, a calming scent he identifies as lavender with a hint of honey.
“Ah, it is adequate.” He manages to squeak out.
His face goes bright red when Makoto smiles at him, a sweet and tender look on his face. It’s like looking right into the sun, it’s bright, warm, and overwhelming. He can’t stand to look at him, not when he’s in this condition. Any thoughts he has are immediately evident, he can’t hide anything from him.

“It wasn't more than a couple of minutes before Gideon's breath was evening out and his grip loosened at Leon's sore wrists and dropped to his slowly stilling sides.
He nodded almost imperceptibly; no words of confirmation, but the gesture was enough. Leon gently pulled the visor away from Gideon's head, carefully settling a couple of strands of silvery hair that had been pulled along with the metal goggles back into place.
They were greasy, but shockingly soft between his fingertips. Leon could only imagine how soft they would be once they were washed, conditioned, and brushed properly through his fingers.”

It’s quaint, in a nauseating sort of way. Polished floors glint from the gleaming honeycomb chandeliers overhead, make him squint. A few vases sprinkled here and there, filling the room with a sickeningly sweet scent – even a waffle-cone headrest framing the silken sheets of a neatly-tucked bed. Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.
It's meant to be beautiful. Luxurious. Welcoming.
