Mornings were gentle as light crept into their nest, a softer bed than either of them had enjoyed before, made into a cocoon of warmth and respite.
Waking, being born into the world again by sleep, had never been more peaceful.
Sephiroth was careful to not make sudden movements as his consciousness settled fully behind his closed eyes, sinking into control of his sprawled limbs. He could feel the reassuring weight still pressing down on him, but he opened his eyes anyway to watch Cloud, asleep on his chest, safe under Sephiroth’s black wing folded over him like an extra blanket. Though he’d never explained the reason why, he always tried to ensure Cloud fell asleep with a significant amount of his body on top of his, grounding him to his own body even as they slept.
For all the things Sephiroth had ever uttered before, there was still something about a raw, honest, /I need you/ that was still difficult to voice, even if Cloud knew it every minute of every day.

Jaskier has been a free bard for over twenty years when his father captures him. When the Warlord of the North seeks revenge and kills the king, he doesn't hesitate to make use of the opportunity. He will go north to gather new song material, help solve a political situation, and while he's at it, he might take a bite of the Warlord as well.

Sunrise Stories
An ongoing series of shorter stories (mostly) set in the At Dawn universe, but that lie outside the arc of the main fic for various reasons. I plan to experiment more with tone and genre, and will tag relatively comprehensively so you can take or leave what you like!
I will note in the summary when they work standalone as some may only make sense in the wider universe.
Sincere apologies to e.e. cummings for some of the titles. It’s a nod to experimental writing and certain types of symbolism that I have always loved

Heartbroken, he weaves his way from Georgia, where Sam died, to New Hampshire, settling in Portsmouth and trying to make a life for himself. Angered by Dean’s abandonment and fueled by his rage over being abandoned, Sam cuts a bloody path from Georgia, instinctively following after Dean with the intention of dropping as many bodies along the way as a signal to his brother that he’s coming for Dean and that he intends to make his brother pay for leaving him before making Dean understand that there’s no getting away from him.
