Everything felt so peaceful. There was no evidence of strife or disrepair like the Konoha in his time. None of them knew of the Third Shinobi World War already building in the shadows. Civilians lived without fear, and shinobi joked about missions. He watched children playing in the Academy playground, so similar to the scenes from his own childhood before shit hit the fan. A tiny smile formed behind his mask.

Out of all the things Kaminari could have said Aizawa had obviously not been expecting that. Even Kaminari was shocked at his own outburst. What the hell was he doing, thinking about something as important as this and making a decision in five minutes!

Kaminari, along with many, many others, dies during the USJ. However, unlike all the others, when Kaminari dies, he wakes up.
He wakes up barely a month before his inevitable death, sitting alone in his room while Present Mic, loud and bright even as a hologram, informs him of his acceptance into the prestigious school for pro-heroes in training, UA Academy.
“Congratulations, Kaminari Denki! Welcome to your hero academia!”
This is the first time Denki dies.
It will not be the last.

His tone was no-nonsense, stern and unforgiving, but his eyes were soft, empathic. “Kaminari Denki is missing.”
People handle grief in various ways. Some are destructive and visible while others are quiet and subdued, unable to be noticed until the damage became indestructible. A story spun through the eyes of various heroes-in-training, snippets from the Hero Squad, brief beginnings of letters from the King of Rage, and sparse texts from one Sero Hanta, reveal the damage an empty desk can do. When fellow classmate (fellow friend) Kaminari Denki disappeared without a trace, Class 1-A is left to chase after a fading silhouette and the aching, hollow pieces he left behind.
