Summary
Naruto lifted his chin slightly and whispered - testing and a little defiant - a “My life is mine to risk” into the silence of the library.
“Is it?”, Sasuke breathed softly. The words were barely more than breath. And they sounded so seductive that Naruto’s heart skipped a beat.“As I said”, Sasuke continued - and his voice became deeper and rougher and took on an undertone that bordered dangerously close on desire and yet still sounded almost royal, “You disobey your commander’s orders.”
“So it seems the prince himself will have to give you orders” - and suddenly the entire atmosphere changed so rapidly and so inevitably that it almost hurt and stole his breath, “And you will obey them - you will obey me.”

Summary
Naruto Namikaze could confidently say he was a good guy.
Being the Fourth Hokage’s son, it’s not like he had much choice in the matter anyway. He couldn’t afford to be an asshole or a prankster, but even then, Naruto was just good. He genuinely wanted to see people happy, wanted to see them smile. Naruto would help the elderly carry their groceries, greet every person who walked past him, and play with his little brother and his friends for hours on end when most guys his age would do just about anything to avoid being around children.
Sure, maybe you could still say he was a bit stubborn, overly loud and unpredictable at times. At the end of the day, he was still Kushina’s son.
But regardless, the point he was trying to make still remained. Naruto was a good person, loved by the village. Truly a man with no enemies.
Besides Ino Yamanaka, that is.
Or, Naruto is beefing with Sasuke’s new girlfriend, but that’s just because he wants what’s best for his best friend. Right?

That is until a certain blond, boisterous hero jumps in and saves him by offering up the most logical solution:

Summary
Orange breaks through, catches his attention.
There. Look.
Cloudy. Dark. Wet. He can see the outline of the person beside him. His own chest seems to deflate, his phantom arm clenching his fingers into his palm.
He remembers, barely. He feels it, mostly.
What he knows are blue eyes blink at him through the dripping darkness, slowly. So slowly. They don’t speak, he doesn’t think he can. He wants to. He wants to say don’t you dare die. He wants to say that if you die, how will the sun rise again in the morning? What for? What will happen when it doesn’t?
Darkness. An ice age. Probably.

Summary
Sasuke barely registered the words. He was overwhelmed by the feeling blooming in his chest and spreading through his veins as he looked at the boy beside him. The same boy, now almost a man, who had chased after him time and time again, who never gave up, never doubted.
The tears spilled before Sasuke could stop them. He turned his face away, trying to hide this moment of weakness, but Naruto noticed anyway. He had suddenly gone quiet, and Sasuke could feel his gaze on the back of his neck.
Naruto didn't say anything, only waited until the tears dried. It wasn't like he could go anywhere, not in their state, but even then Sasuke knew Naruto wouldn't have left. He would stay by his side, unwavering, as he always had. Sasuke turned his face back to the sky.
"Shut up," he said, even though Naruto was no longer talking, just so he could hold on to the last thread of composure he had. He pretended not to see the smile on Naruto's lips, or to notice the way his own curved slightly upward. "You buffoon."
Or, a chapter 699 rewrite with a different ending.
