Summary

Except he didn't account for his highness to lay eyes on his artwork, ever.

Xie Lian gazed at the face he had become so achingly familiar with, words lost to him as he observed every handsome feature up close. He was entranced by the sharp line of the man’s jaw, the deep widow’s peak beneath black muzzled bangs, the soft bow of his lips.
Instinctively, he reached forward, fingers caressing the captain’s cheek, lingering on his pale skin.
Almost immediately, the captain grabbed his wrist, a playful smile tugging at his lips. “See something you like, gege?” he chuckled.
OR: Xie Lian, a quixotic merprince, has been told countless times that humans are dangerous. Unfortunately, after observing Captain Hua, a fearsome pirate, for many months, he can't imagine the statement being further from the truth. He knows he can shift into a human form if he steps on land. He'll just need to figure out how to win the young captain's heart.

Summary
His heart lurched, pulse thundering in his ears as he lowered his phone. He stared at her with wide, expectant eyes, silently praying for good news.
“He’s awake,” she said softly. “But… he’s having a very difficult time remembering anything.”
Xie Lian parted his lips, but no sound came out.
“We suspect that he may have lost the last five to six years of his memory,” the nurse continued, gesturing for Xie Lian to come with her.
OR: Hua Cheng was Xie Lian's best friend, his roommate... nothing more. When an accident happens, and Hua Cheng slips into a coma, Xie Lian realizes that "nothing more" has always been a lie.
The hospital has a strict policy: only immediate family members are permitted to enter. In a moment of desperation, Xie Lian lies and tells the nurse that he's Hua Cheng's fiancé.
The only problem? Hua Cheng wakes up and doesn't remember a thing. Xie Lian's shocked to find out that this version of his best friend is elated to be his soon-to-be husband.

OR: It’s been almost a decade since Xie Lian last saw Hua Cheng. When he attends a concert with Shi Qingxuan, he realizes that the shy young man he used to watch during practice is now a confident, wildly successful musician.
As old memories surface and Hua Cheng unexpectedly finds him in the crowd, Xie Lian is left wondering whether their reunion is truly a coincidence or if Hua Cheng has been waiting for him all these years.

With a sharp exhale, Hua Cheng rose to his feet, knocking lightly on the door before opening it.
Beyond the threshold, Xie Lian sat on the floor in his inner robes, eyes reddened with emotion, long hair cascading over his shoulders and back. He looked up at Hua Cheng with surprise before smiling softly.
Hua Cheng reached down, helping Xie Lian to his feet. “I will remain by the door inside of the bedchamber,” he whispered. “You are never alone for as long as we’re together.”
OR: Hua Cheng had spent years mastering the art of keeping people at a distance. A knight's blade was meant to be sharp and disciplined. His assignment was to deliver the Crown Prince of Xianle to the Kingdom of Wuyong where an arranged marriage would secure their political alliance; however, this task had become exceedingly more difficult after Hua Cheng meets Xie Lian.
