“Get out!” I shouted at the civilian staring at me with wide red eyes that rivaled my own. He was staring at me as if we weren’t standing in a collapsing building, as if he wasn’t holding onto two small children. They were tucked into his arms, I could hear mothers screaming outside that their babies were still inside. I couldn’t blast this guy like I needed to, not with this guy standing here like this. “You need to move!” I shouted again; his black hair stuck out against his pale skin and matched his red eyes in such a unique way. For a moment, time froze and I thought that this was it. I am going to lose a civilian and two kids because he is too scared to move. But who the fuck wouldn’t be? Not everyone’s body moves on its own. That’s the saying, right? You know you’re a hero when your body moves before your mind.
“Hit him!” The guy shouted back and I couldn’t stop the confused and annoyed look from gracing my face. “My quirk! I can protect these guys!” He yelped, his eyes almost brightening. I watched as his skin shifted and… hardened? His skin grew tougher and looked spiky almost. Rock-like would probably be a better way to describe it.
