I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't ever that much into danganronpa. So when I was hit with a bit of nostalgia to read up on KomaHina again, I was going purely by guts when I clicked onto the first installment. AND BOY WHAT A RABBIT HOLE I FELL INTO WGAHSGAHSGAJSG
These three installments should honestly be considered as staples of the KomaHina fandom. Author-nim basically rewrote the entire fucking franchise, THAT SHIT TAKES LOVE, PASSION, CREATIVITY, AND SO MUCH MORE. As in, you can feel the passion the author put into each and every character in the way that theyre all so well thought-out, fleshed out (more than the game ever gave them justice Im not gonna lie), and you just feel the love between all of them.

MissDollxxAuthor, you just about tool my brain and took it for a merry ride through a world of complicated situations, relationships, and people. My head is in such a state that I want to take it out and bite it into pieces. That and I wish to give your brain a kiss and then maybe dissect it. It's really one or the other.
Komahina writers are strong and oh-so beautiful. And so they end up creating stories that are just as beautiful and complex and oh my god you gave life to these characters.

(This is a longer, slow burn canon-compliant post dr3 piece, with a generally fluffy, comforting take on komahina & the cast living on the island. There's pining, a lot of pining. Plot happens. A lot of things happen, actually. Oh, and bdsm. That too :) )

Warm steel and cold hands
Fan_SellerI missed Hinta and Komaeda so I decided to open ao3. And then I read this and realized "Im about to go down another rabbit hole arent I"
I do love post-canon stories of danganronpa. I don't even mind if it's just normal day-to-day shit with some shenanigans, because honestly after all the shit theyve been through and all the shit theyve done, I just want to see them grow.
And in this story, they did. Then, the author wrapped it up in the best way possible. Im ngl, I read this story lowkey waiting for the other shoe to drop, in a way it did with how Komaeda reminded Hinata that good days don't always last in the end. But then it was wrapped up nicely when Hinata said to just try again.
Sometimes, the hardest part of the day is waking up. And I love how this story actually captured that part really well. It's a process of trying again and again, and fuck my body is heavy and my sins heavier, but try again anyway. Because I want to live. I want to live, so desperately.
Ah, author if you're seeing this, don't mind it. It's just me and my own thoughts that turn against me and a body that kills me.

1. Side characters are characters - PLEASE THEY HAVE DEPTH, THEY HAVE PERSONALITIES, AND THEY HAVE THEIR OWN STRUGGLES WITHOUT TAKING AWAY FROM THE MAIN COUPLE. I FELT THE LOVE AND CARE DRACO PUTS INTO EACH AND ECERY ONE OF HIS STUDENTS. I FELT IT I FUCKING LOVE IT OLEASE BE MY PROFESSOR.
2. The romance is slow burn but in a way that takes its time rather than purposefully dragging things out - this fic is romance genre, no doubt about it. But the thing is that it's also slow burn in a way that, oh we were oresented this and this dilemma, these are reasons why they can't be tgth. And so the story actually walks us through the entire process of them working through their shit like actual adults. No more of that miscommunication shit (youre adukts ffs, use your dang words AND THEY DID)
3. EVERYTHING ELSE - OH MY GODDD I LOVE THEM AND THE SIDE CHARACTERS SO MUCH LIKE??? MINERVA??? I LOVE YOU SO MUCHH AHHHH AND THE CHILDREN??? OH MY HOSHHH THEYRE BABIESSSS

Chaos Theory by Tessa Crowley. This author is such an og istg, all goated works. This is the farthest from canon Draco and I ADORE it, he's still mean, he's still an asshole, and his words make you feel like you're running for your life. But the way this Draco is written lets the readers know how far he is from canin draco. And honestly? Im here for it. Canon hp is shit, the author is shit. The only real thing that the franise has going for it is the fandom that cultivated itself. This work is one of the examples on how well and truly this fandom has grown outside of hp franchise. And that's good, the fabdom built love from a place where plot holes are bigger than the books themselves, gave character to the mfing characters, and built an entirely different experience for those who are casual readers/enjoyers of it.

I absolutely love Sirius, AND I SWEAR I'M NOT DELUSIONAL BUT IS THAT WOLFSTAR. Anyways, Theo? Theo. Theooooooo. And Pansy? Pansyyyyy. Blaise? Blaiseeeee. I love these kiddos so much. Do It All Over Again by DracoWillHearAboutThis. This entire series is so bittersweet to me. I think I knew since the beginning that the older Draco wasn't going to get the happy ending he was desperate enough to break time and space for. He essentially haunted the narrative for me. I'm happy for this version of Draco, and I absolutely love how realistic the entire series is with the whole codependency and trauma-related themes. It's a slow and gruelling process, and it's scary just as much as it can be enlightening. If I could read this series for the first time all over again, I'd do it.
