"I think I'm pregnant," Phil says suddenly, cutting Dan off. Dan looks at the man. Then down again at the chart. Then up at the man. There are tears forming in the corners of Phil's eyes as he takes another shaky breath in and his hands are fidgety in his lap.
Alright, well this is why medical professionals are trained to not assume anything. This poor man is scared and the last thing he needs is to worry Dan is going to be a dick about it.
Phil has some medical anxiety that brings him to the ER, where he meets NP Dan who is really trying his best.

"It's not finished yet," he tells the boy gently, making sure to keep his voice quiet, because if someone caught him not knowing what to do and freaking out about it in any public situation, he'd be a right mess too. "See the number on the display? That's the minutes the cycle has left. It's another fifteen."
In a world without the internet, the universe can't stop coming up with other outlandish ways for Dan and Phil to keep running into each other.
