Ilya and Shane are good friends in public after All Stars 2017 and Ilya is still in Boston.
They are engaged; they've been together for a year and engaged for a year.
Ilya locked that man down after the Rose debacle of 2015 - He joked that they should get married. Shane had said yes, they had been dating an hour at that point. The ring was on a necklace within 2 hours.
Both of them are both tired of hiding. One night at dinner with Jackie and Hayden, Hayden makes a joke. Only that joke is the best idea Shane has heard.

The centaurs get stranded near Shanes cottage and have to go there to not die in the cold. This gives Shane and Ilya a chance to reveal their relationship without saying anything. They are engaged but no one knows they are together yet so they have fun with that concept.

Shane just got traded to fucking Boston. To where Ilya was. With no apparent fucking reason in the middle of the season. He just won them two cups, why was this happening?

Shane gets traded in the middle of the 2016/2017 season, just before the All-Stars. The Tuna Meltdown never happens and Shane and Ilya amicably decide to stop seeing each other but remain ‘friends’. Both are very ‘happy’ with this decision until Hollander is traded to Boston. Now they must work with each other on the same team while Shane wonders what the hell happened in Montreal to get him traded in the first place. The Boston Raiders learn that Shane Hollander is not a chicken, or a virgin (lol) like everyone believes. And the Metros learn just how important Shane was in winning those cups.
And Cliff Marleau is just trying to figure out why Ilya’s messages to Jane stopped.
