    Summary

'That was probably the worst part of this whole thing. The humiliation of it all. Here Clark was, baring his soul, thinking about a future with someone who lit every spark within him, challenged him at every turn, made him feel the most human he had ever felt, and Bruce – Bruce had probably saved his number under the contact Metropolis Fling #4 or something, someone to call when he fancied a roll in the sheets.

God, to think he had exposed his deepest secret to someone who thought they were fuckbuddies – Batman would be fucking embarrassed of him. Clark vowed to never tell him.'

    -

Soulmate fic where Kryptonians have Soulmates, rejections have consequences, and Bruce is terrible at feelings.

    Summary

In a world where soulmates are represented by animal familiars, Clark wonders if his soulmate is a cat. A literal domesticated feline animal that one could get from the pet store and not just a person with some cat-like personality traits. There’s no other explanation as to why his familiar acts like every single asshole cat meme to ever exist.
On the off chance his soulmate is a real human being, well… He would never tell his mother this, she raised him too well, but sometimes Clark wishes his soulmate’s familiar was making him feel just as miserable.
    ---
Bruce peels his eyes away from the monitors to look down at the menace on his lap and barely contains a look of disgust. Big blue eyes stare up at him as he rests his chin on Bruce’s thigh, and as their eyes meet, the pathetic, whimpering little whines are replaced by excited huffs, the clickity clack of dancing paws on concrete, and the rhythmic thumping of his tail hitting the leg of the table.
Why does it have to be so needy and cuddly all the time?

    Summary

Clark heard it just as he stepped out the front entrance of The Daily Planet’s building. The sun had already set, a chilly autumn breeze dragging through his coat. It had been a late evening for him, catching up on drafts for his next few articles before some other emergency stole his attention from his work.

    “Kal-el.”

He straightened, perking towards Gotham. Something cold gripped his heart as he listened for that familiar heartbeat. The voice was unmistakable; low, rough, and steady, one that grounded Clark almost as quick as Ma’s. In battle, hearing it usually meant there was a plan, that Clark could worry a little less about details; because the man he trusted the most – with his life and the lives of his family – had it under control. It soothed Clark when he faltered, bolstered him when his strength wavered, and steadied him when he teetered on the edge of sensory madness.

    And that voice sounded afraid.

Clark was suited up and hurtling through the air towards Gotham before Bruce whispered again.

“Kal–” came his quiet gasp. “I’m sorry.”
