Everything goes to hell on a Tuesday.
Ilya knows it’s a Tuesday because it’s also the season opener and the Raider’s first game against Montreal, the game he’s been looking forward to for weeks, through a long summer spent in Russia watching his father deteriorate, arguments with his brother that nearly devolved into fistfights, threats from Polina made out of fear for her standing and a barely masked loathing for her husband’s children. He’s finally in Boston, and he’s thought about little else than getting back on the ice…and seeing Shane.
So when the news breaks that morning—that Raiders captain and notorious playboy Ilya Rozanov is said to have fathered a child and is denying his parental responsibilities—the media has a field day and Ilya has a fucking mess on his hands.
