As Max continues to use her rewind abilities, the cost becomes impossible to ignore. The more she pushes her power, the more it pushes back-bringing dangerous side effects like memory loss, blackouts, seizures, nosebleeds, extreme fatigue, and crushing headaches. Time itself begins to blur, leaving Max questioning what's real, what's changed, and whether she's using her powers without even knowing it.

An expansion of the scene in Reunion that occurs directly after Chloe has fallen from the building and Max has used her powers to place the cart of leaves under Chloe in an attempt to save the one person she still loves more than anything in the world. I thought the original scene seen in the game was very lacking, so I re-wrote and expanded on it.

When Maxine Caulfield is asked to sacrifice either Chloe or Arcadia Bay, she chooses a third option: herself. After losing count of the number of loops, resets, collapsing timelines, and failures she's experienced, Max isn’t sure when she is anymore. Or if this moment is real.
All she knows is this:
No. One. Dies.
This fic asks the question "what would Max do if she could restart the time loop at will?" and the answer is "drive herself insane trying to save everyone."

They should have known something strange was at work when an unconscious girl washed up on the shores of the Pokémon Ranger school. The girl had no inkling of who she was or why she was in the water, to begin with. All the memoryless girl knew was that her name was Kate Sapphire.
The girl was young, maybe 16, and with no family or friends in sight, the principle couldn't possibly leave her to fend for herself. So, he does the only thing he could do in such a dire situation: he signs her up for classes a wee bit late.
Alongside her new friends, Keith Ruby and Rhythmi Gold, the strange girl takes on the adventure of a lifetime as an unspeakable darkness enters Almia and shakes the region to its very core. Lunick reaches out to catch Minun before taking the brief opportunity the stun attack has given him to run to Spenser and scoop up the styler. He hears a grunt of protest behind him, but there’s no time - if Spenser wasn’t actually hurt before, he is now, and Lunick has no idea if the call for backup went through.
'Sorry, Spenser. I’m not leaving you behind. I promise I’ve done some research on how to use these things. Please don’t let this be why you reject my application.'

Spenser is terrified. Not because he feels like he’s actually on fire (and Arceus, it’d be worse if he didn’t have his uniform on) or because his head is aching something fierce. He’s terrified that he’s going to, inadvertently, kill the prospective rookie.
When a ranger's styler breaks, it's "game over". That isn't just a metaphor.
Or, seven times a ranger almost experiences a capital-r Rebound, and the one time a ranger does. A 7+1 featuring whump, friendship, and an excuse for me to try and do a little worldbuilding for the Friendship Loops game.
