Diluc's 18th birthday had gone wrong in every. Single. Way. Their carriage had been attacked and his father had almost died, had it not been for the patrol of knights that had been near them simply by chance. Then the knights went and betrayed his trust and loyalty, choosing to sweep his father's efforts in driving of Ursa under the rug to save face.
Now, worst of all, Diluc hadn't seen Kaeya in almost a week and he could tell something was up. The only question was what?
Basically, an AU where Crepus survives the attack and they talk about certain aspects of Kaeya's past like the civilised and loving family they are.

‘I suppose you could never understand, seeing as you don’t have a family of your own.’ Albedo scoffed. And…ouch, that one actually hurt. Kaeya hadn’t expected that of all things, not from Albedo, who knew everything there was to know about his past. ‘You couldn’t even begin to understand what it’s like to hear about your sibling getting hurt!’
30th of April, one of the worst days in Kaeya's miserable life, and he spends it as he usually does; getting too drunk to think about all of his failures. But Kaeya forgot one important detail. He was meant to look after Klee today. And he didn't, and now she's hurt.
