Eddie feels Buck take a breath—it’s this dense crush of sound. Eddie’s eyelids flutter, fingers crooking on the seat. Buck’s an alpha. Of course Buck’s an alpha. Eddie’s known this, even if Buck’s never said it.
It’s his energy; it’s the way that something in Eddie, despite everything, gnaws at him when Buck comes into a room. Something that terrifies him. Something that makes him want to say yes when Buck asks if he can make dinner, if he can help with laundry, if he can drive Eddie to work.
Something that’s made him even more vigilant about the suppressants, which is why he knows he took them.
He must have taken them.

A muffled laugh came from the couch.
Eddie slowly turned toward his coworkers, realizing that they were all staring at him. And they were all barely holding back their laughter.
Eddie frowned.
“What?”
Hen was the first to speak.
“Did you just say ‘Ay papi’?”

Buck’s eyes widened. “Excuse me?”
“Open. Up.” Eddie repeated, stressing each word.
OR; Buck has a toothache. Eddie takes care of it, and then Eddie gets taken care of - in more ways than one.

Buck can hear raised voices. Chris looks stricken.
“She’s realised that I’m talking to you. Oh she’s really angry. Buck? Can you stick around. And put yourself on mute. I’m just gonna.”
Chris flips the camera so Buck can see the room instead of Chris’ face. Chris opens his bedroom door slightly and holds his phone to the gap. Eddie fills the screen. He’s in a black tank top, similar to the one he was wearing the day Buck met him. His hair is damp. His mouth is curled in irritation. He’s looking across the room, probably at Helena. It dawns on Buck that Eddie and Helena don’t know that Chris is watching, that he is watching.

Eddie nearly chokes. Silly… Yeah, maybe so. “Uh—No. No girlfriend.”
“Then whose is he, Eddie?” His dad asks.
And with the comedic timing of one of those corny 90s sitcoms, Buck chooses that exact moment to walk out of the kitchen.
Or: Eddie's parents make a surprise visit for Christopher's sixteenth birthday. What they didn't expect was finding a few surprises of their own.
Or: Eddie is convinced the universe hates him when his parents come to visit. With them already believing he and Buck are together, Eddie decides to roll with it.

"No." Eddie stubbornly crosses his arms. "Either you can explain to me why you're leaving me, in detail, or I'm not accepting it."

“Did you know,” Eddie interrupts, “That Buck is my partner?” He can’t feel his lips, but he’s determined to drive home the point, regardless of sloppy speech. “Yeah, we’re like this.” Eddie makes a show of crossing his pointer and middle fingers, wagging them in front of the surgeon’s face. “So you can’t take him, Jodie Foster.” He shakes his head emphatically, ungelled hair flopping into his already-blurred field of vision. “Buck ain’t for sale.” Eddie mimics her Southern inflection beautifully. “Capiche?”
“Eddie,” Buck hisses when someone on the far end of the room snorts into their paperback, then covers it up with a cough. “Excuse him, he’s totally kidding.” He glances at the surgeon guiltily. “I think.”

The bead of sweat trailed down his spine.
“Buck?” Eddie interrupted his so far uninterrupted tangent.
Buck turned to him with a grin. “Yeah, baby?”
“I can’t wait to see what you have planned for our special day tomorrow.” Eddie winked at him.
Buck froze. His hands stopped moving, suspended mid-air. The color drained from his face.
“...tomorrow?” Buck asked.
