Summary
Dazai comes from a land that no one has information on, the Port Kingdom. It's when he's sent to the Agency's Kingdom to contribute to the Prince's ceremony for his twentieth birthday that he meets Kunikida. Dazai's only rule is to not mess up for the sake of both Kingdoms and for him and Kunikida's relationship.
Fukuzawa Yukichi,
Word has spread from merchant commoners to the Royal Castle. ‘Sir. Fukuzawa is searching for a new painter to aid him in the official ceremony of Prince Kunikida Doppo and to paint his portrait to hang along his fellow generations of royalty painted in their youth,’ is what we hear. My nation has not been hospitable to your nation, and the same may be said about the reversal.
As a peace offering, we offer our very own painter of royalty. He will be accompanied by two residents of his choosing to travel across the regional divide to carry out his task. Afterwards, He will return. During him and his company’s residence, they will be under agreement to not cause trouble. Summary
Dazai returns to work after being cleared by the hospital and becomes terribly depressed as it seems Kunikida doesn't treat him quite the same as before the DOA attack. Sigma feels it's an issue to be solved, taking it upon himself to mediate the strange pair.

“Odasaku! Don’t go!”
But he keeps walking. Farther and farther out of Dazai’s reach. Arm falling back to his side, he watches in a muted kind of horror as his friend walks away, without glancing back. He’s being left behind; he realizes and the thoughts makes his throat tighten. Left behind by his only friend. If Oda leaves now, if he goes, Dazai would have nothing left.
He cannot let that happen.
“If you leave now, I’ll…” He fumbles with his words, trying to think of something that would make Oda stay and reconsider. His panic speaks for him, words rushing out faster than he can think them through. “…I’ll kill myself!”
Oda stops walking.

Atsushi’s lips trembled. Dazai was clearly enjoying himself with his silly jokes, but, to the tiger, every word that came from the Boss’s mouth felt like it carried a hidden question. A test he always failed to pass. He didn't know what to say. Having a pet wasn't forbidden, but even the small possibility that Kuro-chan might be taken from him squeezed his heart into a raisin. Atsushi didn't want to imagine his life without the cat. A small, black, cat-shaped speck of light in his life. Atsushi would do anything for him.
Even lie to the most important man in his life.
Atsushi bonds with a mysterious black cat that always visits him when he's at his lowest. He doesn't know that he's not the only one seeking solace in their shared life, not the only one breaking down under the pressure of life in the Port Mafia.
