It's also the amount of time it takes for Jaehyun’s bag to drop to the floor with a dull thud, for the expression on his face to shift from shock to disbelief to blatant rage, and for Dongmin to realize that he is ultimately, incredibly, undeniably fucked for the rest of his senior year.
"You," is the first word Jaehyun spits out through gritted teeth, and it shouldn't sting this much, Dongmin knows, especially when it's his fault. Jaehyun raises an accusing finger and nearly buries knives into Dongmin’s skin with his glare. "You– You're… what the fuck, Dongmin?"
"Yeah." Dongmin swallows thickly and somehow manages to hold his heart high enough for it to not drop and crash onto the floor. "Hey, Jaehyun."
(Being roommates with a certain Myung Jaehyun would be so much easier if he wasn’t Dongmin’s ex-best friend.)

The younger man's eyebrow lifted. He tilted his head, the height between them forcing him to look up ever so slightly. It should have made him seem smaller. Instead, it only made his stare more unwavering.
"Should I?"
"If you know what's better for you, you will."
The corner of the Jihoon's mouth curled.
A quiet chuckle slipped from him as he held the older man's gaze with infuriating ease. "If I wanted an escape, I would've taken one nearly a year ago on the very same night this whole fucking mess started."
"Jihoon, I thin—"
"You think I'd spend months bottling this shit up and the past three days getting under your skin, just to chicken out because you finally decided to do something about it?" A soft scoff, his eyes never left Shinyu's. "Come on. You know me better than that, hyung."

He runs a hand through his already-messy hair, shaking his head. “Junghwan-hyung won’t be home until late tonight cause he’s filming way out in the fucking countryside or some shit, I don’t even think he’s got his phone on– fuck, what the hell?”
Of all the days Dohoon’s heat could’ve hit, it’s the one day that Junghwan– his mate-slash-boyfriend of five months– isn’t anywhere near fucking Seoul at all.
