The demon jolted in surprise. “Oh! My goodness! Well, uh. I mean. Where to start?” He started counting points off on his fingers. “You can’t hold down a job. Your ex is blatantly still in love with you. Your other ex thinks dating you was an insult to his intelligence. Your old cult keeps finding you. Grian’s still in your old cult. Grian thinks you can’t tell he’s still in your old cult. Your stalker’s still in your friendgroup. Your sister’s obnoxiously perfect. Everyone you know bullies you constantly. Grian again, but this time just because of his general personality. Uh. You ruin everything you’re involved with.”
“Excuse me?!”
“You can’t be that surprised!”

“Oh, Erling,” Jobe sighs dramatically, his tone teasing again, as if reading Jude’s mind. “My big, strong Erling. Oh please won’t you bid for my hand and make me forever yours.”
“Shut up,” Jude laughs, his face crimson now. “You are so cringe. You know it’s not like that. We’re just friends.”
Jobe rolls his eyes playfully.
“We are!” Jude insists. “Come on. Think of what I’m dealing with here. When you turn twenty-one, wouldn’t you rather marry someone you actually like?”
“I know,” Jobe says softly, kissing his brother’s cheek. “I get it. I’m just teasing you. I don’t envy you. I know you wouldn’t be doing this if you didn’t have to. And I want you to find some sort of happiness from your marriage. So if you have to marry someone, it might as well be him.”

Pearl let out a few disbelieving gasps as she sat on his bed, she looked like a statue. Grian tried to keep his breaths steady but he failed with each attempt. He couldn’t fathom what he was told as they ate.
He was to be wedded soon. He was to be wedded off to Scar of all people.
“This is nothing less than cruel to you.” Pearl’s eyes were full of unshed tears, he reckons that it’s from both sadness and anger.
“We both know that nothing can come from this marriage, they're just sending you off to go deal with that monster for them.” He knew what she was talking about. Grian was just as confused as his sister when it came to him being chosen. There was one major flaw in this marriage that just couldn’t be overlooked.
(Basically I made a desert duo arranged marriage AU, updates every week on sundays! or at least that's the goal)
