Summary
The real question is, Izuku realises, just what is actually realistic for a quirkless person in a society run by quirks? It's the first time he analyses not heroes or villains but himself and realises, well, fuck.
Being realistic means dying. Suicide, bullying, assaults and outright targeted murder.
At least this way it's as painless as he can make it for himself and his mom. It's on his own terms, rather than anyone else's.Shouta Aizawa sees more suicides than he wants to recall. Is too late for too many, only finding dead bodies down dark alleyways.
But not this one, he vows. Not this kid. He doesn't know him, not his name or what he looks like. But every kid deserves a hero, deserves everyone working themselves to their bone to help them, even if they're too late. Even if others in society drove the kid to this point; at least Shouta wasn't one of them. At least he tries everything. At least he doesn't give up until he's past the point of exhaustion and there's not even an inkling of hope.
And he doesn't want to give up on this one. Not like everyone else apparently has. Even All Might.- Language:

Sitting on the floor, crayon in hand, he had been trying to draw the dogs he and Mummy were watching on the telly, the ones who were rounding up the sheep for the farmer. He watched breathlessly as a black and white one raced across the big green field, and suddenly wished with all his heart to run like that, to be useful like that, and the room tipped over as he fell, all four legs tangled up.

He was 5 when he met him. He was 5 when he was laying limp on the ground, whimpering in pain when he came. He was 5 when another hero name was written right next to All Might. Squiggly handwriting, and black inked.
He was 6 when he got his friend back. And 7 when he realized there were only two adults in his life that made him feel safe. He also 7 when he got a person to call Dad
He was 12 when he died. And 12 when he found out that apparently the gods, and luck hadn't entirely abandoned him.
It was also when he was 12 that his rose tinted image of heroes shattered. His dreams crushed mercilessly as he was left alone on a rooftop.
He was 15 when he entered UA. And he was 15 when he took the Hero Industry by a storm.

The moment Izuku lets himself tip forwards over the edge of the building, the sharp wind rushing his face and curls catching in the force of falling, he knows he’d make a grave mistake.
I don’t want to die...
But he’s already made his decision; you can't come back from this. He stares wide-eyed as the ground gets closer and closer as the seconds tick on, eyes squeezing shut as he waits for impact. He awaits the consequences of his own stupid actions and then—
I don’t want to die.
—and then he opens his eyes and he’s stood peering over the edge of the building he’d just fallen from. Beside him, his shoes are tucked neatly on the ledge, backpack leaned on the ground beside them just as he’d left them. Izuku blinks owlishly, leaning forwards to stare ten stories down. Ten stories down where he’d just been a moment prior, only seconds away from hitting the ground.
He’s... back?
And that’s the first time Midoriya Izuku realizes that he does, in fact, have a Quirk.
