    Summary

Sleeping with Arvid isn’t supposed to be serious. Liam doesn’t mean that cruelly; only in the sense that it’s partly about blowing off steam, and mostly transactional: Liam has slept with men before, and Arvid wants to learn what it’s like to sleep with a man. Besides, Liam’s not blind; can acknowledge Arvid is attractive – classically handsome features, dark, intense eyes – framed by unfairly long lashes that he’s caught himself looking at for a second longer than can be considered friendly, if he doesn’t check himself. It is, he tells himself – not exactly difficult to let Arvid into his bed.

It mostly had started, when Arvid had said, quite neutrally: have you ever imagined kissing another guy, and Liam had said – before he’d really registered the words, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. And there really had been no way of walking back that statement; not when Arvid’s head had whipped up, eyes locked onto Liam with all the acuteness of a homing missile.

When Arvid asks Liam to show him how to have sex with guys, it's supposed to stay casual. It appears that Arvid hasn't got the memo.

    Summary

Some partnerships on the grid are built through years of racing together. Others seem to form through a shared water bottle, a borrowed hoodie and an endless supply of charging cables. Whatever the formula, the result is the same: when the pressure rises, every driver needs something steady to reach for. Arvid appears to have found his lucky charm.

Arvid has a habit of forgetting things. Liam, somehow, always has what he needs.

It starts with a borrowed pen in Melbourne. Then it’s sunglasses, chargers, water bottles, a cap, Liam’s favourite hoodie. Eventually, Liam starts bringing extras and Arvid stops pretending he isn’t looking for him.

The rest of the paddock figures it out long before they do. Arvid was never really looking for the things he’d forgotten. He was looking for Liam.

    Summary

Charles opens the door in his work out shorts and giant hoodie, half of his hair smooshed to the side of his head while the other sticks straight up. He's frantically trying to smooth it with one hand as he swings the door wide with the other, but gets distracted by Max standing there, red-cheeked and trying to pretend he isn’t panting.

The cloud of rainpancakesearthsyrup floods into his apartment, making Charles blink dazedly. It’s so fucking good. He can’t help but gasp a bit, surprised.

Max takes a final deep, almost heaving breath and shoots his arm out straight in front of him, a dark blue hoodie clenched in his fist. “Here.”

Charles doesn’t reach for it. He eyes Max, the sheen of sweat along his hairline, the fit of his relatively but not egregiously skinny jeans.

    “Did you—did you run here?”

Max grimaces a little, then shrugs. “Brought this for you.”

    *

Charles has spent the last 28 years highly sensitive to smell, usually to the detriment of his own well-being. So what if Max’s presence—and scent—have always helped with that?

So what if this is the year Max finally notices?
