Surely, once the weather clears off a bit more he won’t have to wait anymore. Rather he’ll be somewhere warm and cozy. A sound of a flute in the background or a melodic voice quietly singing ballads to him will perhaps accompany him too. With that thought in his mind the hope in his chest rises again, warming him up from the inside while he shivers on the outside. Yes, he can wait a day or two longer.

“Er-ge is fine. You, on the other hand…” He looks away, coy and submissive. His eyes flick back to Nie Mingjue, now coupled with an absolutely disgusting smile. “At the end of it all, even the mighty Chifeng-zun is flesh and blood. And what does flesh and blood do?”
The flames rage around them, licking at the bottoms of Jin Guangyao’s robes. If it hurts him, he doesn’t show it.
“It burns.”
