The tick of Eddie's eyebrows. The twitching of his mouth. Even when he didn't think he was being expressive, he was.
This man was quickly becoming one of Buck's favorite things to watch. His favorite person. His -
"They even have dance moves!" Eddie looked awed as Maddie and Chimney did their routine. Buck could admit, he was jealous of his sister. He wanted that with someone.
He glanced at them on the stage but his gaze didn't stray from Eddie for long. Eddie could be that someone.
Well -
Maybe not in karaoke.
OR: While Buck is Chris's teacher, he and Eddie have to remain strictly friends. It goes about as well as you'd expect.

"You never told me your name." Buck let his smirk take over once again. "Generally that's the polite thing to do when someone gives you theirs."
The man's cheeks went pink again. "Right! Right, uh. Sorry. Eddie. My name's Eddie."
"Eddie, huh? What's that short for? Eduardo?" Buck took a few steps closer. Eddie was practically in arms reach now.
He huffed a laugh, shaking his head. "Everyone guesses that but no. It's actually -"
"Wait, wait, let me guess." He pretended to think hard about it, face scrunching up in thought. It got a laugh out of Eddie, which had Buck feeling like he won something. "Edgar."
When Eddie's eyes crinkled with his happy grin, rosy cheeks framing them -
Buck knew it was going to live rent free in his head.

"Hey, can I ask you something?"
Eddie lowered his beer bottle, turning from the TV to look at Buck. The other man was staring straight ahead, casually taking a sip of his own beer. Eddie didn't think there was a trap here, but he also didn't totally trust the question, for some reason.
But it was also Buck, so it wasn't like he was going to say no.
"Sounds ominous, but sure. What's up?"
Buck still didn't look at him. "I just... Are things - No. I mean, are you..."
Eddie turned the TV down, bringing a leg up on the couch to actually face Buck. It seemed this was something serious. "Buck, what's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong, really, it's just. Are you really never gonna date again?"
Eddie felt his mouth drop open a little in shock, eyebrows raised. The question felt so... out of the blue. "Uh, what?"

Summary
They had both gotten cleaned up at the hospital, but they wanted out of their itchy hospital-issued clothes.
At least some of their own clothes came out unscathed in all of this.
Eddie wasn’t sure why he found that so funny.
“I’m glad something came out okay.”
He hadn’t meant to say it out loud. Or maybe he did. Maybe he needed to hear Buck’s voice. Needed to hear a stupid joke to know that he was actually okay.
It got a huff of a laugh. “Yeah, I guess. But of course it wasn’t my favorite shirt that made it.”
It was a joke. Eddie knew Buck’s favorite shirt was back at his house, safe and sound. Or, he should say shirts. Buck really seemed to like Eddie’s shirts, even if they did run a little tight on him.
It always did funny things to Eddie’s heart to see Buck had stolen another shirt. To see Buck actually wearing them.
Eddie sighed, dropping his head before giving Buck a small smile. “I was trying to add to the pros here, man.”
“Call me a glass-half-empty kind of guy, I guess." Buck shrugged.

"Don't you have a fire to contain?" Eddie grumbled into his hands.
"My team's got it."
Eddie looked up with narrowed eyes. He had to anyway, what with Buck being backlit by the sun as he was. "What are they even paying you for?"
"Looking pretty, obviously." He swung his axe over his shoulder with a wink.
Eddie was sure he had brought it over just for that exact purpose. Why else would he need it?
He had to admit, though... He looked good with it. He always looked good, but something about his arms, and the pink of his cheeks, and his glittering eyes, practically sparkling in the sun with laughter, and the uniform certainly helped -
Eddie cleared his throat, wanting to come off as cool. And not let on the fact that he was getting lost in fantasies about hot firefighters with adorable pink splotches on their faces. "Wow. Glad to know my tax dollars are being well spent."
Buck laughed, head thrown back with it and everything. Eddie didn't think he was that funny, but Buck always made him feel like he was a comedic genius.
OR: Eddie really needs to stop setting his kitchen on fire. At least he gets a hot firefighter out of it.

Summary
After all they've been through, it's strange that something so important could be so simple, but for Miles and Phoenix, falling in love, at least, doesn't have to be the end of the world.
Some stress relief fluff that I wrote purely to cheer myself up - there is literally negative plot but there is a lot of lawyers falling into the bright and bitter kind of love that can only come from a lifetime of belligerent teamwork.
(The anxiety tag just refers to Edgeworth's reaction to earthquakes and mentions of a psychologist, btw)

Miles arbitrarily decides that he cannot look at the man for a moment longer, so he looks towards the doorway across the room.
He finds himself staring into a pair of big, dark blue eyes. His brain, still, cannot seem to catch up.
“Wright,” Miles begins, and the girl seems to start. She dodges into the room she must have come from.
“Give me a minute,” Wright says inexplicably, and he stands just as Miles looks back at him. “She– I won’t be long.”
