Summary
“If you’re done being an ass, you can get it in the ass,” Ilya said, moving his foot to the middle of the bed.
Shane squeezed his fist, fingernails digging into his palm. A silent invitation to close the distance. Shane didn’t move and it killed something inside of him.
Ilya kept it there, but his face fell, hurt flashing in his eyes. “You don’t want me close? I don’t understand.”
—
Shane thinks pulling away now will hurt less than losing Ilya later. He’s convinced they won’t last outside of the cottage. Ilya thinks Shane is being an asshole.

centaurs ✅
[picture] The middle of the Ottawa-Buffalo game. In front of a net, Ilya Rozanov is on one knee on the ice, flanked by two Buffalo players, stick outstretched toward Shane Hollander who has the puck on his stick.
CENS WIN
OTT 5 FINAL 1 BUF
The post-game press line, Ilya Rozanov sweaty and shirtless, a mic held in front of his face.
ESPN reporter: Ilya, what an amazing assist in the second period power play. You were literally swiveling on one knee avoiding two defensemen, and sliding the puck to Hollander to score.
Rozanov (grinning): Well, sometimes you have to go down on one knee for your man, you know.
[Caption] Married life #Cens style: scoring goals with your husband!
Or: During Shane's first season in Ottawa, Ilya keeps breaking the internet with his interviews and shenanigans. The internet, predictably, keeps losing its shit.

“You are sooo boring,” Shane whines again. “Wanna hear something not boring?” He attempts to wiggle his eyebrows at him, but he only manages a weird half arch on one of them. Hayden would think it’s kind of adorable, if it wasn’t for the topic of conversation at hand.
“No, I don’t,” and Hayden prays inside his head for Shane to actually not tell him anything else.
God (and Shane) ignore his pleas.
“He fucks me so good after he wins a game. But he fucks me even better after I win”.

Summary
Kyle Swift just wants to give Eric Bennett the experience he never had - fun, safe sex with a man, without all the drama that comes with casual dating. He’ll teach Eric important lessons that Kyle wishes he’d learned sooner, things that he can bring into a real relationship once he feels more confident. A relationship with someone more appropriate. And Kyle knows that as soon as he tells Eric about the worst mistake of his life, their trust would be broken, and he would lose the only thing that has brought any warmth into his life this winter.
So he doesn’t bring it up until late February, when he’s started falling in love and it’s feeling more and more like he’s been lying. And Eric has been falling hard too, so in this version of the story, he’s determined to find a way to navigate through the murky waters of Kyle’s trauma, emotional transference, and Eric’s own insecurities, to a healthy relationship that they don’t feel the need to hide.
Then they proudly reopen The Kingfisher together, and on opening night Kyle has an interaction with the newly outed Hollanov that teaches Ilya a thing or two about boundaries, and helps Shane feel a little more comfortable in a queer space.

"I just want to fall in love. I want to love someone so much that it hurts."
Shane and Ilya find one of their rookies crying on the floor outside of a club while the team celebrates a win, so naturally they have to adopt him and make sure he is never sad again. Or they would if they could, so they settle for just taking care of him and making sure he know's he isn't alone, all while finding out about another queer player on the team who no one knew about.
or
Nic LaPointe is asexual and aromantic but he doesn't let that stop him from going out with his friends to spend time together, after all that's all he really wants, just a friend who won't leave him for a quick hookup or ignore him in favour of their partners, but tonight is not the night for that apparently, so when his captain and his husband find him crying outside the club everything come's out in a heartbreaking confession.
