Summary
Arthur feels the exact moment it happens.
A harsh tug in his gut, a sudden sense of vertigo. The world shifting ever so slightly off balance. The fires seem to warp before his eyes, flaring brighter for only a second, then collapsing into something duller, dimmer. More sinister. Between the clash of blades and staggered cries, the world itself shuddered, ripples cascading through earth and stone to where he stood, surrounded, certain of their impending death.
And there's this...ringing, like the fading peal of a bell...
He wished he hadn’t ignored it.
OR
Arthur knows something is wrong, and it’s all he can do to keep it together.

Summary
Time rose and fell around him. Its waves crashed against the shore at his feet — the inexorable place where present and past met, and so washed away the threads of possibility. The thousands, millions, trillions of events that could be before one by one they collapsed into a single moment. Solidified into a single strand. Left the way open for the next rush of possibilities.
It was enough to stun any man, and though Hadrian had witnessed it more times than he could count by then, this time was different.

Summary
Kell wakes up in a dying world.
He didn’t mean to. Didn’t want to. Didn’t even know what he was doing until he closed his eyes and felt his blood hum with familiar power and the world warped beneath him.
And then he awoke in a place at once foreign and familiar, a deepening sense of horror sliding like ice through his veins.
Because this was not Red London.
OR
Kell gets into an argument with the royal family of the Maresh Empire, and - in a moment of anger - uses his magic to travel to another world. However, he ends up in White London, cold and alone, and with no way home.

Summary
Dread has a certain feel to it. Cold, heavy, damningly silent.
It's the type of thing that festers like an open wound if left unchecked. An aching sensation in the pit of your stomach too painful to ignore. A voice screaming for attention in the back of your mind.
They’ve learned to read it, to adapt to it. To heed it as a warning.
But, sometimes, they forget, and they find themselves trapped on a road they never intended to follow.
OR
Pearl is dying, Jimmy is struggling to keep it together, and Scar has a plan that might get them all killed. Meanwhile, Gem is just doing her best to make it to the next day, and Grian certainly isn't helping with that.

Summary
Branches snag on Rusty’s cloak, like fingers clawing out of the dark, grasping at her from the depths of the shadows. She trips, only barely catching herself on a nearby tree. In the back of her mind, a voice screeches at her to go, go, GO.
It’s always the same. You just run and run and run and run until something gives and you’ve made it another day or you're looking down the end of another Shadow’s sword.
Rusty was so tired of running.
(She does it anyway.)
