"It’s not like amnesia," the doctor said. "Eddie remembers who he is, who you are. He knows you. He remembers his life and likely most of what’s happened to him."
Buck frowned. "Then what's happening?"
"His memories aren't staying in their proper place anymore. He’s struggling to keep them compartmentalized.” She paused as Buck took it in. "His brain isn't signaling clearly when a memory is just a memory anymore. To Eddie ... it feels like it's happening now."

When Buck jumps off a bridge to save a little girl during a call he winds up with a month off work and a slew of people coming to the Diaz house to take care of him and force him to rest. He's not going to admit how nice it is.
He would also like to point out- for the record- that he technically jumped out of a bus. It just so happened to be hanging halfway off a bridge at the time.

Summary
Buck goes back into the water without thinking, without caring that his leg is already failing him or that the current is still strong enough to drag him out to sea.
Buck finds Christopher.
He brings him back.
But when he wakes up, all he can remember is the moment Christopher was gone, the broken glasses in his hand, and Eddie’s trust turning into something Buck no longer thinks he deserves.
