Summary
After three years, Lan Wangji rejoins Lan society. He is in pain. Lan Xichen can tell, because Lan Xichen can always tell, but he knows everybody else can, too.
+
Wangji visits him in seclusion once a week when he is at Cloud Recesses, like clockwork. Lan Xichen, whose sense of time and self and world is drifting, appreciates, as always, his brother’s reliability.
Or, Lan Wangji recovers eventually. Lan Xichen does not.

Summary
He knocks. There is no answer. If Lan Wangji had wanted to be left alone, there would have been. He opens the door, which hadn’t even been locked. For the briefest of moments, he pretends to hope that the silence is because Wangji had run, but of course he hasn’t.
Or, Lan Wangji accepts punishment.

Summary
You – I? She? Pyrrha? You’ll stick to you for now – don’t sleep. Part of it is that you don’t, technically, need to. Even with Gideon gone – you make it through that clause in your head without even stumbling – even with Gideon gone, his – your? – body is still healing lyctorally, restoring itself without the aid of sleep. It’s exhausting to maintain, if you leave it too long, which you have, but you won’t die. The other part is that it is impossible to shake the certainty that the moment you cede consciousness, he’ll be back. He’ll be back and you’ll have to share again. You don’t want to confront whether you’re afraid of this or desperately hopeful for it. So you don’t sleep.
Or, Pyrrha is alone for the first time in a myriad, except she isn't, really.

Summary
Lan Zhan’s daemon shivers her shape again and again and again. She is a dozen different, vibrantly-colored birds, almost obscene against the austerity of his bedchamber. She flies across the room. She perches on the windowsill, and becomes carrion-eater after carrion-eater. She makes him look at her. She does not let him look away.
His golden core is new. It fills up his meridians, his lower dantian. She can feel it too.
That night, for the first time, she flies out of the window as a silvery-black crow. She makes it an arm’s length out into the night before their tether pulls her back.
