“Osamu? It's the middle of the night, baby, come back to-”
Chuuya dropped his phone.
The frame cracked against the corner of the living room table before slowly sliding down the trail of spiraling blankets Chuuya had dragged with him after waking up to an empty bed. The phone slipped like it could wait forever, lost in the dream of plush and fabrics.
The air seemed to stop too. There was the rusting fan hooked onto the kitchenette; it seemed to slow with the patience of a soul that had lived. The night sky outside the balcony faded away into the darkness with equal tranquility.
Dazai gave Chuuya that crooked grin that Chuuya always claimed to hate, the one that made him look broken and alive all at the same time.
“Oh, you're up?” Dazai’s voice carried over the sound of silence. “You should go back to bed, Chibi; you might catch a cold out here.”
Dazai leaned back a little further. It made him look taller. “go to bed, Chibi.”
“Osamu, get off the balcony, now.”
