"Is this congratulations?" Deaton asks quietly. Stiles still has his eyes closed when the pressure on his belly disappears, only to be replaced by the swipe of paper towel over his skin. "Or condolences?"
It takes another breath or two, and a quick scrub of his hands over his face, for Stiles to open his eyes again. A part of him is disappointed to be greeted with a black screen on the ultrasound machine. A bigger part is on the verge of a breakdown.

Summary
He was glancing at the clock on the wall when his eye caught on a boy, sitting at one of the high tables, little more than five feet away. The kid was staring at him in fascination, straw forgotten and dangling from his lips. There was a dollop of whip cream on his nose.
“Can I help you?” Peter asked, eyebrow raised in disapproval.
“Are you a doctor?”
Peter frowned. “Most certainly not.”
“Ah,” the kid sighed. “Then no.”
His eyes stayed glued to Peter’s face, the intensity of his gaze putting the man on edge.
“Didn’t your parents tell you it’s rude to stare?” Peter snapped.
“Sure, but I’ve never seen a real werewolf before!”
In that moment Peter was glad for his iron-clad self control. His eyes didn’t flash, his teeth didn’t lengthen, but his jaw sure as hell fell open.
“I beg your pardon!”
