Summary
Experts can find no discernable cycle, only that drow who experience heats can expect to do so every decade or so, provided they are in the right environment. Roughly, this means adequate nutrition, lowered levels of stress hormones, and mildly increased levels of sex hormones. Food, calm, and attraction.
It should really be no surprise then that Essek went through exactly one heat at the peak of puberty and never again. A fact that never bothered him much until recently.
Or Essek has finally found someone he wants to share a heat with. Now if only his heat would get the memo.

Summary
Footsteps pad down the hall and past the stairs. Actual footsteps. Verin can’t remember the last time he saw Essek walk on his own two feet. He feels a twisted knot form beneath his sternum; something isn’t right.
Thinking only of justice and restoring his family's honor after Essek's betrayal, Verin Thelyss finds something he never expected, an Essek he never expected. A mission for justice turns into a race against time and a family finds their world upended.

Summary
“If I am remembering correctly, and I usually do,” Caleb lets a smile tease at the corner of his lips. “It also does not require such, ah...intimate contact. You can cast at quite a distance, ja?”
Essek maintains a straight face, but he cannot disguise the way the tips of his ears twitch. “I—ah can, yes.”
“Much like you do not need to hold hands to Teleport?”
The wizards use a spell as an excuse to hold hands, make emotional speeches, and be giant saps.

Summary
Ever since you were very little, Dad has told you stories. Stories of heroism, of adventure and friendship and love. Stories of the Mighty Nein.
You know they’re not real, because only you and Dad are real. It’s you, and Dad, in Room, and that’s all there is.(It starts like this: Essek Thelyss meets Ludinus Da’leth when he is 81 years old, desperately lonely, and convinced down to his core that he is too clever to be taken advantage of.)
(It starts like this: Ludinus Da’leth has never truly let go of anything.)

Summary
In the wake of Phoenix Gate, Clive fights to keep his brother's throne. For Joshua, it's a trial of loss he cannot keep from repeating. But he will find a way.
“I know,” Joshua repeats, as Clive’s fingers settle deeper in his hair, carding out the apology he can’t make. “I know you have to go. If we lose Rosalith, we lose—” Rosaria, he means to say, but Clive interrupts him.
“—I lose you. There isn’t a place I could send you on Storm safer than this city.” He smiles. “Allow me to do my duty, lord marquess.” The title sounds funny on his lips.
Joshua rises and sorts himself. “I can order you to stay.” He won’t, and he wouldn’t.
Clive’s smile tugs to one side. “You can try.”
