Sequel to The Longest Night.
After a deeply unfortunate 3 night stay sharing a room, and a bed, Vera and Joan discover that Vera has an alarming habit of sleepwalking. Now that they have gone home and returned to their normal, very separate lives...Vera realizes that the sleepwalking was not an isolated event. In true Vera fashion, she is determined to prove that her sleepwalking is not Joan Ferguson’s problem.
And Joan, increasingly frustrated by Vera’s determination to keep her at arm’s length, is beginning to realize that keeping Vera safe may be considerably harder than either of them expected. Convincing Vera to accept help seems to be an entirely different beast. Vera may have no choice when her unconscious keeps finding her way to Joan.

Summary

A need for understanding slowly shifts to curiosity, and then to admiration, and from admiration to something the formidable Governor isn’t quite ready to name.

Overbooking and a miscommunication by Wentworth mean that they are, unfortunately, sharing a room with two beds. Summary
Joan and Vera get stuck working late as they finish some reports at Joan's apartment. Joan offers to cook. Vera, captivated by the grace of Joan in her element, becomes fascinated watching Joan's hands as they work. When her brain betrays her, suddenly she can't control the wildly inappropriate thoughts that start to consume her when Joan offers a cooking lesson. Joan, impassive as always, appears to have no idea of the effect she is having on her. Vera gets lost in the sexual innuendo and experiences an internal crisis at discovering that she is insanely attracted to her boss.
