“What the fuck did you do?” Marco muttered.
“I didn't do anything,” Ace snapped back. “There's not even anything here to burn!”
“Well apparently there was. And now it won't stop burning.”
Ace wanted to fire back a retort- not that he really had one lined up yet- when the fire suddenly disappeared like it had been doused with water. He turned to Marco with a smug grin only to notice the odd look on the other's face, his suddenly wide eyes still staring at the spot the fire had been. There was very little that could ever truly surprise Marco and Ace was sure he'd never seen his eyes look that big. With trepidation, he turned back to the spot, his eyes falling down to the sand beneath the fire.
The heat of the fire had melted the sand into shards of glass, sunlight catching off the small pieces and throwing light outwards. That wasn't what caught their eye, though. Because nestled on top of the melted sand was a large egg still glowing from the intense heat, the shell a deep purple color with hints of gold trailing across it like veins.
Or, Marco and Ace accidentally make a fire baby and have no idea how or what to do now.

Ace was not having a good day.
It had started off great since he had finally defeated the stubborn warlord Jinbe after their five day fight. He had been exhausted and covered in bruises and scrapes but he was victorious and that was a high that kept him going, that kept him grinning back at his crewmates who had watched the fight. But then his good day had rapidly gone south because suddenly the fucking Whitebeard Pirates were there and not only were they there, their fucking captain was there. Whitebeard himself was there.
And when Ace saw that haki coated hand coming towards him and felt the split second of earth shattering pain before blacking out, he was sure he was dead. He hadn’t done anything he had set out to do and instead was going to die as just another reckless and idiotic rookie that no one would remember the name of. What a fitting ending for someone as pathetic as him.
But then Ace woke up. In an infirmary.
