Summary
One night, Mystra even lays there caressing his chest, talking about mortals trying to ascend. She whispers about the horrors of unrestrained power, the way people would push until they died. Maybe Gale's an idiot, or maybe he's a romantic, because he turns to her and whispers that perhaps he could become a god. Then, they would be so powerful. Mystra tugs on a chest hair and laughs freely, but the loving admonishment feels like someone taking a gouge to his chest.

Summary
Spring was beginning in New York. The frost was thawing, ice was breaking, and people were going outdoors again. It’s a pretty time of year.
Pretty because of the leaves, animals, flowers, and the goodwill of the season—winter days brought children lost in the slush, bodies found in the snow. Spring days bring missing cats, adultery, and petty theft. Easy, fluffy crimes that make Pete’s life easier.
The woman in front of him decidedly doesn’t have one of those.

Peter Parker is a private eye. He's seen people die, he's seen families torn. He does what he can to fix things, to heal them. It's hard to do, though, when it's not just a murder—when it's a gang, stronger than he is, when’s he's not even doing well on a personal front.

Summary
Hospitals are very lax with their security. Stutter a little, worry your brow, look around like you’re searching for someone, and they’ll let you in. They’ll let you in, even if you’re a six-something man dressed in all black. Maybe the teddy bear he’s holding helps. Maybe he just seems so desperate to see his “friend, for a couple of years- no, no I know it’s high-profile, he’s just been so good to me since we’ve met-” that they let him in without thinking too hard.

Summary
It was a gift from a client, that Matt’d kept at the office for weeks before bringing home. A ceramic cat, with holes for incense whiskers. It lasted two weeks.
That’s how you knew they were in a good period—nice things would last, and they would compromise. Matt didn’t have to smell incense, but Frank got something to look at. They didn’t talk about the cat, but it was there and it survived. It survived long enough for Frank to move more of his clothes here than there, and for his toothbrush to migrate onto Matt’s counter. It survived long enough for them to go through a box of condoms and a thing of floss.

Summary
In fact, the harsh winter of his world is soon to be gone to him—he’s going out this year.
“Love, you’re fine.” Hobie’s wearing something that very much hasn’t been invented in Pete’s universe—it’s short and bright, with sequins up the entire thing. There’s a slit on the side which goes up to the very height of his hip, and the neckline goes down to Hobie’s bellybutton. It’s cute, and Pete likes it, but in his universe it’s a little too scandalous for company holiday parties.
“You’re all dolled up,” Pete’s swapped his spider-suit for a simple, regular suit. He’s still got the trench coat overtop, and he stuck a branch of mistletoe into the band of his hat, but that’s about it. “And I look like the world’s most regular joe.”
“Half the spiders there are wearing their suits.” Hobie raises his brow, moving from beside the fire and over to Pete. “’Nd besides, you’re proper stunnin’ like this.” He pulls on Pete’s tie and smiles, tilting his head.
