Pei Ming who wanted to run away from the duties got defeated when the Water Master: Shi Wudu encouraged the heavenly officials to put Pei Ming in the throne. And that made Pei Ming burst into anger, however, he can no longer back down when the officials voted him down
Later, when he became the Emperor he decided to tie his beloved friend: Shi Wudu to himself and the throne.
