Summary
A story spurred on by an ex of ours, who then got a fictive from it.
Nicole Eaker's life comes crashing down after her plan to swap bodies with the mech pilot she manages goes a little too well. Meanwhile, the pilot becomes more and more adept to her new name and title as a handler — and status as a sister.

Technoblade in the Culling Game
——————
One by one, each person on the train twisted. Changed. Became monstrous. Hysteria had those still unchanged screaming in panic, but there was nowhere to move. Nowhere to go. Everyone was trapped.
Huh.
So much for a peaceful life.

Summary
Set in GlitchyRobo's Human Domestication Guide setting.
Humanity has been invaded by a precursor race of hypercompetent plant dommes called the Affini, and forcibly given paradise in a post-scarcity culture that heavily prioritizes the care for its protectorates, to the point of drugging and mind-controlling them into a blissful reverie if necessary. For almost everyone this is a vast improvement. All that's required is to give up any silly notions that anyone except for the Affini know what's best for everyone; in many cases the poor things clearly don't.
Charlie Fitzgerald has seen too many instances of moving fast and breaking things to trust the green tide that swept across her city after the aliens came, and in particular, the magic mystery box in her kitchen. They said it could compile anything. She didn't believe them.
A short one-shot ventfic about a news item I found particularly distasteful. No formatting tricks or anything this time. I'm just writing.
My contribution to the September Sprout Scribblings jam.
